When do you read my meter reading?
We usually read your meter every one to two months, so each monthly bill may be estimated based on your previous gas usage.
Your gas meter will be read at a different frequency depending on where the meter is located on your property. If your meter is difficult to reach then the number of actual reading by a meter reader can be reduced.
Should I read my own meter every month?
The first thing we recommend you do is to understand your monthly bill and how the monthly bill is issued either based on the actual meter reading or estimated reading. If your last couple of bills were issued based on the estimated reading, then we may have trouble accessing your meter.
If you provide us with your meter reading each month, we can bill you for a reading based on your actual usage rather than estimated consumption based on the last actual reading. It also gives you more control over your monthly usage. You can email us at help@megatel.co.nz with your meter photo showing the date then we can update it for you.
We can also arrange to have your meter to be read at a time that is more convenient for you with a small fee. Please contact us for more information.
Where do I find information about my latest meter reading?
When you have received the monthly bill from us, please go to page 2.
9-10) This part of your monthly bill will show you more information about your meter reading period, meter number, previous reading and the latest readings, number of units used, charge per unit and the total amount charged for the month. If your estimated reading does not look correct, you can contact us for more information.
