Important things to know

• You cannot use your mobile plan while you are overseas. You must purchase our Roaming Packs or casual fees will be applied.
  
  
• You can purchase our Roaming Packs through the MyMegatel App. These add-ons are available for Multizone countries only.
  
  
• Casual roaming fees will be applied if you do not purchase a Roaming Pack or visit a country outside of the Multizone countries .
  
  
• Your standard New Zealand rates don't apply when roaming overseas which means roaming services are additional charges and you will expect to see these charges from your next invoice.
  
  
• Our roaming charges are in New Zealand Dollars and subject to GST.
  
  
• A charge per service is different in each zone, and each zone has different charges.
  
  
• Accessing your voicemail while roaming will be the standard roaming per-minute rate for an outgoing call from the country you're in.
  
  
• Standard text messages while roaming: there's no charge for receiving a standard text. However, sending a text message is chargeable per each standard text. One standard text message is 140 characters (includes space) and texts over 140 characters count as more than one standard text message.
  
  
• Sending or receiving picture text, MMS or video message are not included in roaming packs and they will incur extra charges. If you send these types of message using a mobile application such as email using data instead, they will consume data usage from your roaming packs, or casual data rates if you do not purchase a roaming packs.

Roaming Service Notice

Megatel provides mobile roaming service coverage in 210 countries. When you arrive at your destination and your mobile device with your SIM is on, roaming service will be activated automatically. Once it has been activated, confirmation txt will be sent out. You will then be charged for incoming and outgoing calls, incoming and outgoing txts and 3G data as per your destination’s roaming price. Please note that any calls made to your mobile or an automatic software upgrade on your device could also incur roaming fee.

As different roaming prices apply to each country, please check the roaming prices before you travel. Roaming service is set up on your mobile device as default so if you want to deactivate the service, please let us know at least 48 hours before you leave. If the roaming service does not work at the location where roaming is available, please Contact Us for assistance. Quality of roaming service depends on the network of each country you visit.

While in-air or at sea, Voice, TXT and Data services can be accessed via roaming service. Summary of data roaming usage can be viewed from MyMegatel page according to the usage date and time, but may require up to 48 hours to be updated.

If you would like to disable roaming service, you can either remove the SIM from your mobile device or Contact Us to deactivate roaming service while you are away. You can even contact us while you are overseas to disable the service. However, any charge that has incurred prior to the contact will still be liable to you.

You are liable for any charges that have been incurred by roaming unless you have contact us at least 48 hours prior to leaving NZ to deactivate the roaming service. You can check roaming usages and any charges from MyMegatel.
